Back to the Cotswolds.

After last years enjoyable weekend in Swinbrook, we returned again this year as Keith was kind enough to set the date for early August. What a great turn out, we counted 16 buses this year along with a Beetle for good measure!

Celebrations were abound as it was Jan’s 60th birthday and Bob laid on a cocktail bar, which, by all accounts went down very well! Barney thoroughly enjoyed his coconut and strawberry cream balls, Robo went for a swim down the river and a few others chilled out in the sun! It was good to see Zed, always a pleasure to see Lasty and CollyP and meeting new friends.

Swinbrook is famous for The Mitford sisters, six of them who all married into aristocracy including Deborah who became Duchess of Devonshire during WWII.

The family home was close by, in the village of Asthall, Asthall Manor. Myself, Michelle, Ewan and Caroline set out to find the Manor, which we did, very grand too!

A further stroll around the surrounding area led us back to Swinbrook, the countryside around the village is stunning, peaceful and enjoyable. Well worth visiting!

Camping in The Cotswolds is a brilliant weekend, proper camping in the countryside by the river, the kids had lots of fun running around. The fire pit is by the river, which was great, nice and toasty warm when it was lit. All in all, a great weekend!
