Well, Dent was as stunning as always!
This year we headed for the Not Dent Music and Beer Festival (as it was cancelled) then on to Hinerwell near Staithes and back to Derbyshire to Monyash. What can I say, we had an excellent week, weather was superb, we met some lovely people and saw some amazing sights.
Instead of the beer festival, cancelled due to a bereavement, a few local bands played a selection of folk songs in aid of a local charity, which tended to be in the evening, which left us time to explore!
We explored the amazingly scenic Flintergill Outtake Trail up towards an old quarry and onto the top of a ledge overlooking the valley. This path ultimately ends up on Whernside.
Overlooking the valley:
As usual, the riverside walk along the banks of the Dee was as inviting as always, is nice to sit and watch the river pass by!
Our next stop was Hinderwell not far from Staithes and Whitby, with the Cleveland Way following the coastline, which was very enjoyable.
Staithes is a really picturesque village sat on the side of a hill, leading down to the harbour with a small tidal river, we loved it!
We both love Whitby so it was great to walk along the Cleveland Way the other direction, towards Whitby to see The Endeavour, an amazing ship and back via Sandsend.
Hinderwell was an ideal spot for us to stay, it made exploring the area so easy and the locals in The Brown Cow made us welcome plus the scenery from the campsite…
Sadly our stay in North Yorkshire came to an end, we will go back, guaranteed! Our third leg of the holiday led us back to Derbyshire & a stay in Monyash again, The Lathkill Dale Campsite. The weather here was as equally sunny, which meant we could sit back, relax and read in the sunshine before enjoying a pint in The Bulls Head!
All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable week, we couldn’t have picked a better time to head off! Even Gusbus enjoyed himself.
